The Summer Village of Grandview has an opening for a Summer Student for the 2012 season. The successful candidate must possess a vehicle and a valid Drivers License, and be capable of lifting heavy items. The majority of the work will be outdoors doing general labour. Starting date for this position is ASAP.
The rate of pay will be based on experience. Please submit a resume to the Summer Villages Office by mail, drop off, or e-mail to the attention of Gail Coleman at information@svofficepl.com
This service replaces the “Big Bin Weekends” due to a shortage of bins available in the spring. A crusher and truck will be brought to the Village and all items will be picked up and crushed at the curbside of your property. Each resident can dispose of 2 large items and 6 green garbage bags (50 lb maximum each). The bags can be filled with any household waste, small appliances etc. This is a great alternative for residents who do not have the resources to transport items for disposal. As part of our process for continuous improvement, the curb side pickup is more cost effective, less labor intensive and eliminates any toxic waste from being sent to the landfills. Ineligible waste items such as paint cans, toxic hazardous waste etc. would be identified immediately and left for the homeowner to dispose of appropriately. Please have your items at the curb side before 7:00 am the morning of June 23rd.
Ineligible waste includes:
• Fridges, freezers or coolers that have not had all the Freon appropriately removed
• Propane tanks and bottles
• Tires
• “E” waste, TV’s and computers
• Paint
• Batteries
• Used oil
• Household Hazardous wastes
• Loose materials and debris (if bagged and tied up it will be picked up)
With the exception of loose materials, the items above are to be taken to the Toxic Round Up or to any recycling facility throughout Alberta. If you have any further questions please contact Carolyn at the Summer Villages Office at 780-586-2494.
